This setting promotes inclusivity and offers a healthy alternative to traditional leisure activities, often involving alcohol consumption. It aims to create a space where the focus is on engaging activities and quality social interactions, enhanced by creative and delicious non-alcoholic beverages.

Goal: The terminal goal of the program is to empower neurodivergent youth to develop confidence in their cooking abilities, foster independence, and promote healthy eating habits.
Target Audience: Neurodivergent youth aged 10-19, including individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, and other Developmental or Intellectual Disabilities.
Description: The Junior Chefs Cooking Program is a monthly Therapeutic Recreation initiative tailored for neurodivergent youth aged 10-19. Participants will engage in hands-on cooking experiences, learning culinary skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Benefits:
Culinary Skill Development: Participants will learn fundamental cooking techniques and recipes, building a foundation for culinary creativity and experimentation.
Social Interaction: Engage in group cooking activities, promoting teamwork, communication, and socialization skills.
Independence: Foster independence as participants gain confidence in the kitchen, learning to prepare meals and snacks independently.

Description: The Creative Breakfast Club offers a unique opportunity for adults (18+) to embrace their creativity, connect with others, and kick-start their day with inspiration and nourishment. Following breakfast, our skilled Recreation Therapist will guide you through an open art studio session, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore your creativity through various artistic mediums and techniques. Join our “Feel the Rhythm Hand Drumming Circle,” an invigorating musical program tailored for older adults aged 55 and up. Each 1-hour session is thoughtfully structured into three segments—Calm, Energize, and Meditate—providing a balanced experience that caters to various moods and energy levels.

The Youth Connections Program at Jess Jones Recreation Therapy is designed to empower neurodivergent youth aged 15-29, including those with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism, Dyspraxia and ADHD. Our program offers a nurturing environment where participants can build friendships, explore their strengths, and engage in leisure activities tailored to their interests and needs.
Through a series of interactive workshops and recreational activities, the program aims to enhance social skills, promote self-confidence, and foster a sense of community. Each session is crafted to support individual growth while celebrating neurodiversity, providing a space where youth can truly thrive and connect.
INTENDED AUDIENCE
Neurodivergent Youth: Specifically, individuals aged 15-29 who identify as neurodivergent, including those diagnosed with conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and Dyslexia.
