Established in 2021, the Youth Connect Program is a Therapeutic Recreation initiative designed to foster social connections, personal growth, and skill development among neurodivergent youth aged 15-29. Through a variety of recreational activities and group discussions, participants will have the opportunity to build friendships, enhance social skills, and engage in meaningful experiences.
Terminal Goal
The terminal goal of the program is to empower neurodivergent youth to develop strong social connections, increase self-confidence, and enhance overall well-being.
Objectives
- Social Skill Development: Participants will engage in structured activities aimed at improving communication skills, conflict resolution, and cooperation.
- Friendship Building: Through shared experiences and group discussions, participants will form meaningful connections and cultivate lasting friendships.
- Personal Growth: Participants will have opportunities for personal reflection and goal-setting, fostering growth and development in various areas of their lives.
- Recreational Engagement: Participants will explore a variety of recreational activities tailored to their interests, promoting physical activity and leisure exploration.
- Community Integration: Participants will have the chance to engage with their local community through volunteer opportunities and outings, promoting a sense of belonging and connection.
- Target Population: Neurodivergent youth aged 15-29, including but not limited to individuals with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety disorders, and other developmental or intellectual disabilities.
Program Schedule
Winter/Spring Term (January – June): Emphasis on outdoor recreational activities, continued social skill building, and volunteer opportunities.
Fall/Winter Term (September – December): Activities focused on indoor recreation, social skill development workshops, and community outings.
Registration & Funding
Registration Cost: $350.00 per term

Funding: SSAH (Special Services at Home) funding approved.
Note: Prior to registration, interested participants are encouraged to attend an orientation session to learn more about the program and meet the facilitators
